Default This years trip.

It's coming upto the time I'm planing for my 6 week photo and chill-out trip to a warmer climate.
After the few problems I had with sheet film management last year I was thinking of taking an Ebony 6x9 view camera that a friend offered to loan me.

After lots of trials and deliberations I will be taking a 5x4 camera but with less sheet film this time. The main reason for this decision is that I know I would regret not being able to get the most out of 47mm XL with that wonderful U/Wide view on 5x4.

So its a Chamonix 45n-2, roll film back, 8 D/D slides, 38XL, 47XL, 150 Apo Sironar S, 350 Apo-Tele-Xenar Compact, plus a Mamiya 7ii and Leica M.

As for film I'll be taking 200 sheets, mix of HP5 & FP4, 80 rolls of 120 HP5, FP4 & PanF, 10 rolls of 35mm FP4 & 3 of Kodak HIE.
Can't wait.
J.

Enjoy your time in a warmer climate Jon, wish you good light, and good ouzo & BBQ times when waiting for nice little clouds :-)

Look forward catching up with you later on in November!

Loaded for bear! Where are you off to? And how are you travelling? My holidays are usually motoring trips, and I can load several kits into the car easily. I can't imagine trying to pack a 4x5 kit for airline travel.

Have a great holiday - good light!

Chris

Chris,
We are off to the Greek islands flying from Heathrow to Athens, we have done this for many years now and travel with BA.
BA allow cabin luggage of any weight, so I take a Thinktank rucksack that suits their generous size restrictions plus you can take a laptop bag again any weight.

In the rucksack I take the three cameras with one lens for each, wide angle screen, filters, loupe, cable releases and the film. The rest of the lenses and all the ancillary equipment plus tripod go in the hold in a large rigid suit case.
There's plenty of room left for a T-shirt and pair of boxers.

I think that the inclusion of the tee shirt is over the top.
