Default Greetings from Portland, OR

Hi, my name is Ian. I'm 29, and have been interested in film photography for the past ten years. I'm just getting back into it for the first time in awhile, and I'm looking to get my darkroom set up again in my new apartment. Outside of photography, I work full time as a luthier, repairing instruments and building my own line of ukes and guitars. I'm looking forward to learning a bunch of cool stuff here.

Welcome Ian, working with wood is a lovely way of spending your time, I will bet that it will not be long before you build yourself a camera. Have you ever thought of doing a photo essay of a guitar build from start to finish, right from the woodpile to the first pluck of a string?

Welcome Ian. There certainly seems to be a link between film photography and other arts such as music. Maybe the link is that film retains a physical medium which is the common link with painting, sculpture, musical instruments. It is a "touchy-feely" thing if that makes sense.

Default Welcome from a fellow Craftsman

Welcome to the forum Ian. I'm also involved with musical instruments, I build and restore traditional pipe organs as a job. It's a way of life to do things 'properly', so using film and a darkroom seems logical for me.

Welcome to FADU, Ian!
Enjoy your time here. Making wooden instruments is very nice craft.
