Default Lovely Exmoor in March

Lovely Exmoor in March

Another informal do!

Spring arrives early in the West Country so I am off again to Exmoor in early March to make the most of it with the usual mixture of some light walking and plenty of photography.

I will be staying at The Blue Ball Inn, Countisbury, on the nights of the 4th and 5th of March, and shall be out and about on Exmoor for three days; Friday / Saturday and the Sunday.

As a few of you know I lived in North Devon for over 30 years so I know where to find the images. If anyone is in the area, or lives within a reasonable drive, or if you want to come along and join in for a few hours or even stay over for a night or two do get in touch with me to arrange things.

Should you be interested in accommodation I have booked the Blue Ball Inn through: Booking.com at a reasonable special rate of £39 per night B&B, ensuite. I understand a few rooms are still available but of course there are plenty of other hotels, Inns and B&Bs that offer accommodation in nearby Lynton and Lynmouth.

The weather on the day will decide where exactly I shall be going for photography but the locations will be drawn from this list:
  • East Lyn: Hilsford Bridge to Rockford (Rockford Inn) via Watersmeet
  • Porlock Weir and beach
  • Porlock Weir to Cullbone Church (St Breuno’s Church)
  • Lymouth Harbour and surrounds
  • Valley of Rocks – general area
  • Lee Bay area and beach
  • Robbers Bridge (Oare)
  • Barracane Beach - NB. This location is not Exmoor but it is an exceptional beach at nearby Woolacombe.
  • Plus many more- far too many to mention!

The walking will be light to moderate and the emphasis will be on maximising image making opportunities rather than serious trekking.

Good outdoor clothing and walking boots are recommended.

I hope to see some of you there!

Neil.
