Thumbs up FADU in July 2010 Black+White Magazine

The Silverprint Advertorial (P81) in July 2010 edition of Black+White magazine has been entirely given over to Dave Miller writing about why he started FADU.

IMO Dave strikes the right note – pro analogue rather than anti digital.

Very impressed by the generosity of Martin Reed of Silverprint to give FADU this coverage

Martin,
Is that issue on sale at the moment or did you get a preview?

Was very impressed and not a little suprised to see it.
Impressed by its content and ballenced tone and suprised that it was in B&W mag, editorial team must be haveing a fit of concence or Martin held a gun to their head.

Getting the word out to the wider audiance can only be a good thing, few of the ex anolouge workers who embraced the light room are likely to return to the darkroom but the next generation of photographers whom have grown up in a digital world may well be excited by the new old methods of working. Here's hopeing the artical tweaked the interest of more than a few.

Also in the same issue is an interview with Matt from AG extoling the virtues of film, indeed we have been well served this month compared to the famine we normaly recive from their hands.
Just how big was that gun Martin?

Paul.

Yes, nice to see after I was sent scuttling, muttering under my breath, from WH Smiths last month by yet another "how to make your inkjet prints look almost like a Cyanotype - if viewed under a blanket in a darkened room at the bottom of a deep mine shaft during a power blackout when there is a new moon" article...

Well done Martin and Matt!

Bob, there is yet another of those articles in the current issue, I'm afraid. Try to ignore pages 58-61 if you can.

That said, it was a pleasure to see the analogue-related material.

Back then, the magazine listed a team of good writers: now, the team list consists of the editor and a bunch of people in managerial roles. That's a pity.

Good for Martin and Dave, I hope there are a lot more regular recommendations to join FADU and to drum-up support for traditional photography from various advertisers in futures issues of the magazine.

Been away for a couple of days but it is good to come back and see this news. I will pick up a copy ASAP.
