Default storing exposed 120 rolls

Having just started medium format for the first time I've been missing the handy little plastic tubs the film comes in. I always found them great for keeping my exposed cassettes in to ensure dry and safe carriage (I'm a fisherman/motorcyclist/canoeist/pot-holer etc.).

Just fiddling in the kitchen today when I spied a little tube containing effervescent Vitamin C tablets. Just like a 35mm film tub but longer and slimmer and...orange. Tesco's worst quality orangy fizzy tablets lurk inside.

Two minutes work with a craft knife to remove the plastic spring thing and a - surprise, surprise - kinda holder containing silica gel from the inside of the lid and PRESTO a perfect tub with room for TWO 120 rolls. Black insulting tape finished off the outside making it just about light tight.

Peachy....

PS you may have to get the wife to consume the tablets, foul stuff, just eat an orange instead!

I use these from Maco, I think that they are intended for lab' samples. I'm not sure if anyone in the UK stocks them. They may be better for your diet.

The Rollei IR 400 film in 120 size comes in a plastic container. I keep them for storing exposed films.

Another vote for Rollei BW films in all it's guises. I've tried the Superpan 200 in 120 and the RPX 100 and 400 in 35mm BW and get great negs to print from straight on to a grade 2 - 2 1/2.

I am more than happy to spend less and get a great film which compares well with other brands. There is of course the added bonus of the plastic containers that the films come in as well! I'm a very happy customer

If on the other hand you JUST want something to put your 35mm or 120 films in, check out this:

The Maco/Rollie containers is that they are lightproof which gives me confidence that if a film is loosely wound fogging is less lightly. I do find it surprising that none of the UK dealers sell them as the potential margin must be around 400%.

If you wrap your films in ali kitchen foil before putting them in the vit c tablet tube it will help keep out the light. The orange or lime flavoured tablets are good for dissolving with soluble aspirin (to disguise the horrible aspirin taste) My wife does this and I believe that it could be the secret behind long lasting relationships. No headaches! lol.

The 7dayshop product would certainly come into its own when away on holiday, shooting several films in the course of a week/fortnight.
