LOL! The saddest part is that three daughters have already left home but the eldest is still here along with her hubby, two young sons and a stepson. Still, at least the cellar corner darkroom works so mustn’t grumble!

I understand the situation now, Dave. However you may now have an interested audience with the kids. Depending on their ages and the room available in your "corner" they might be fascinated by what you do.

I recall in the 1950s a friend's father developing prints under the shade of the stairs in the early evening when it was still light. He'd place the neg( probably 6 x9) and a sheet of paper into a tiny contact frame, slip it into his jacket, move out into the slightly better light in the hallway, expose the frame and count aloud. His son and I would count with him. Then back under the stairs in what was dim daylight we'd watch the print develop in a tray. His wife's small gravy tray if I recall correctly Watching the print come to life was amazing. I assume now that this was very slow contact paper

When I got home my Dad asked me what games we played around at my friend's house. None was my reply we made pictures instead

Hard times were the 50s but with some great moments

Mike

Has anyone considered that all hobbies and pastimes are simply improved by divorce

Coincidentally, whilst you were typing this I was helping my seven year old grandson to print a 10x8 of himself

Hi Dave,

Not sure if we have spoken before, so hi, and welcome back.
