Default Celer Stellar anyone ?

Hi, I used to use Speedibrews Celer Stellar developer some years back, it came in 2 test tubes that you mixed together for a stock brew, I loved it, as it would process all manner of films including XP2 super, infra red, lith film , Tech pan etc, I,m finding it hard to track some down, does anyone know where this is still being sold ?

thanks Tim

Their old website says Silverprint is the place to go but if you get no joy there you could try emailing him.

It was a truly remarkable developer!

Try contacting Michael at:

As I recall it Silverprint was Michael Maunder's sole outlet but I can see no trace of any Speedibrews stuff there any more. It doesn't look promising but maybe Silverprint who have just posted on FADU recently might be able to shed light on "things Speedibrews"

Failing that and as David has said an e-mail to Michael might tell you what you need to know.

If you are able to get info, let us know the situation. I had success with Michael's C41 brew a good many years ago but even then he only made batch amounts every so often for Martin Reed, the previous Silverprint owner

Try Process Supplies, they seem to be the speedibrews place now, they have some speedibrews celer in stock, whether it is the one you want I don't know but they seem to have a range

It never ceases to surprise me what Process Supplies have lurking in their vaults!

Cellar Stellar is certainly listed and for the enormous sum of £2.10 for 500ml!

Bests,

David.

Now that it has been found and that's good news, can anyone who has used it give his experience. Speedibrews claims high acutance and a two stop increase in speed and Process Supplies in its details seem to have simply replicated the quote.

I am curious about the claim of a two stop increase which seems to make it the most speed increasing developer I have ever seen.

Does it really increase film speed to that extent and if it does what "price" is there to be paid?

Thanks

Mike

£2.10 :d

Oh you meant something else. I suspect high contrast and large grain. I also suspect this developer was designed pre T-Grain films.

So I shouldn't be ditching all my Xtol immediately

I wonder how long ago Celer Stellar was "invented"? I suspect it was within the era of T grain films but I may be wrong and anyway you may be right, it may have been designed for pre T-grain films

Still I look forward to actual experiences and if possible scans of negs and prints if possible

Mike

I think it might have been superseded with Celer-Mono for regular B&W films, but I could be mistaken.
