Just so as not leave them out the Hoya one (probably a lot cheaper) is at
http://www.hoyafilter.com/hoya/produ...densityfilter/ Interesting to note that B+W seem to be suggesting that past their limit of 5 stops ND you would get some colour aberation effects whereas hoya goes all the way to 9 stops ND without mentioning it. I guess this is due to the extreme polarising effect giving almost complete black out. |

I also saw on B+W website that the front thread sizes for the XS-Pro Vario ND Filters are bigger. So if you want to add in filter on top of it you need a bigger filter.
Vario ND 52mm has a 55mm front thread Vario ND 58mm has a 62mm front thread Vario ND 62mm has a 67mm front thread Vario ND 67mm has a 72mm front thread Vario ND 72mm has a 77mm front thread Vario ND 77mm has an 82mm front thread Vario ND 82mm has an 86mm front thread |

thats what I was saying earlier in the topic. Either there are markings on it which may or may not be accurate but you can check with your spot meter, or you can make your own markings on it from readings you take with your spot meter. i.e. you calibrate it.
But looking at the B+W one, the image seems to show dots around part of the outer ring which looks very like adjustment settings. Can't see how many there are cos they disappear out of view but I'd guess half or if you're lucky third stop increments. You will need to familiarise yourself with the settings and do the numbers in your head. They are simple. |
