D3200 in 120 and Xtol Development Times
I have done a bit of googling on this and found some times on Unblinkingeye by John Hicks and Paul Harris, both of whom use this combo at dilutions of 1+1 and 1+2. John Hicks' times seem to be confirmed as good by some others on other forums but of course one can have no idea of who they are.
It is always nice to deal with users as on FADU whom you know and trust. I know we have Xtol users here but do we have any who have tried this combo? Unfortunately there are no times given by Kodak and while Ilford do give times with Xtol it is for stock only and I suspect two things: 1. Stock may not give the speed needed for more than say true speed of say 1000-1250 2. D3200 is a film where Ilford times tend to understate what's needed as it does with DDX( dev for next speed up tends to be the better bet) Interestingly the times used by two Photographers on Unblinkingeye for D3200 are very close to the times quoted by Kodak for PT3200( quite a bot more than Ilford times) so the two films may be very close which is probably logical and on this evidence the Kodak times for PT3200 may be the better bet for D3200. I look forward to anybody's input. Thanks Mike |
