Anyone got developing times for this combination. I shot it at 400 ISO. Thanks

Vincent, the ID11 spec sheet lists the times for TMax400 as 7,10,15mins for stock,1+1 and 1+3 respectively. The first being pretty close to Richard's time.

Vincent, I have used TMY-2 in ID-11 quite a lot in the past year, and find it best at 1+1 dilution, 10 min. @ 20 deg. C, using Ilford's agitation regime. This gives great negs in full sun to light overcast conditions. For really cloudy days, I'd bump the time up a bit.
As a general observation, I am not a fan of ID-11/D-76 at 1+3 dilution as it gives more muddy tones, lots of greys, no snap...at least for the films I've used it with (FP4, HP5, TMY-2). Too little stock solution to fully develop the film, I think. Conversely, ID-11/D-76 stock gives somewhat lower edge sharpness and softer looking images (good contrast though). So 1+1 is pretty much ideal with this developer -- good strong tones, and great sharpness. Hope this helps... Svend |

SvendN Thanks a million for that. I've nearly always used ID11 for my Ilford films which I shoot most of the time. I've used it for Kodak HIE when that film was available and use it now for Rollei 400 IR.

Sounds good Vincent. ID-11/D-76 is just such a great all-rounder, and really works well with the Tmax films. Wonderful tonality with TMY, no problems with blown highlights or any of that, even in full sun at high noon in July And it's VERY sharp to boot (at 1+1 dilution, at least). Very good resolution of fine detail, so if you've got sharp lenses it's an excellent combo.
BTW, I forgot to mention, the time I gave was for TMY rated at box speed. That recipe has worked well for me and I see no need to fiddle with it. Best of luck! Svend PS -- if you haven't used Tmax films before, just a reminder that they need a bit longer in the fixer than, say, FP4/HP5, etc. (i.e. traditional grain films). I use 6 min. in Ilford rapid fixer as a standard time, and do a clip test if the fixer is getting on a bit. Last edited by Svend; 21st August 2017 at 05:04 PM. |
