Can I propose that we just eat in the hotels restaurant Friday evening - just like we did last year ?
When we check in to the hotel, the receptionists can adjust everyones room package and not only is it convenient but its also pretty good value for money. Martin |

Martin, Yes that's the idea for Friday night - migrate to the hotel's bar / restaurant and stay there. Then anyone arriving later on will not be left on their own. If we feel like an adventure on one of the other nights we can go down to Newton Abbot and find something there. If we do that my vote would be for the very agreeable Italian we used last time Neil

The Italian we went to on the Sunday night was excellent - I'd vote to go there again.

Thanks Neil.
There is always the ubiquitous Wistman's Wood ... Anyone familiar with Dewerstone Wood? Looks interesting - ancient woodland with a river running though it (NT land but looks like no charges for the smallish car park!) and is fairly near Burrator Reservoir (6 miles south by road) if we are heading that way. Not sure what access to the river is like tho. Last edited by Bob; 19th January 2020 at 08:28 PM. |

I was wondering about the Dewerstone.

The Indian place on the other hand I do not recommend. A Tesco ready-meal warmed up on the hotel radiator would have been more appealing... |

I've been there with RPS but it was about 35+ years ago when I lived in Devon - I can't recall much I'm afraid.
The small car park would be a problem if many want to go, but there's plenty of car parking at Burrator. Starting from there though will probably extend the walk. Keith Tapscott would be familar with Dererstone becausre he lives nearby in Plymouth - maybe Keith can pitch in?? Neil.

You were lucky to get your meal Martin. I was still waiting for mine when all there had nearly finished! And it was only a mushroom Bhaji and rice - which was rubbish I won't be going there again! Neil.
