I wonder if this can be verified by Leica themselves? (Cynic radar switched on and working)>>>>>>>>

For this sort of money I wonder how many other M3's you could buy? . Can anyone here calculate what portion of this King's Ransom belongs to "last" and what portion to "unused"

There's a lot of speculation between the Leica buffs as to which was the 'best' Leica manual M camera produced - the M3 / M2 or the M4. Yes, they were produced it that order :-)

On that I will say no more and carry on happily using my M4 :-)

Neil.

Absolutely.

However, IMO the most aesthtically beautiful Leicas made were the Leica IIIs. They also made a lovely distinctive buzz when the shutter release was pressed - not replicated in the M6 I have.

If I had that sort of money I would buy a house, retire or do both

Mike I think "last" is the (supposed) value here. The 8th Edition leica price guide lists Mint M3 with serial number over 1,000,000 as being approximately $3,600

Seems like good value to me. You could buy the camera, have it serviced by Malcolm Taylor and still have change from half a million. What’s not to Leica?
