Default Old slides

I have started scanning all my old slides to a CD so they can be easily found if I need them. In these are a number of 'ORWO' slides, unmounted except in the plastic frames the came back to me in. The must be at least 33 years old. They have stood the test of time very well and only one is showing signs of fading.

Just as a matter of interest what was the process they used? It is too early for E6 and almost certainly not similar to Kodachrome or E4

I was told when I used the film that they used an AGFA chemistry that had been discontinued. I have hundreds of ORWO slides, It was contrasty, grainy, but very cheap.

Yes, I believe it was the same chemistry that Agfa used for CT18. I used Orwochrom when a penniless student and must still have the slides somewhere. It wasn't a great film but had a very distinctive look. Perutz C19 was later my budget film of choice, cheaper than CT18 but almost as good.

The Orwochrome films used formulae based on an older version of the Agfachrome chemistry. Agfa themselves updated their process for 50S etc.

So you couldn't process Orwo UT18 in Agfachrome chemistry it went to their own lab.
