Default Clyde Butcher

I was directed to a short video of Clyde Butcher making a print in his darkroom. He expresses sentiments that I think most here will agree with, see what you think. HERE

Fully agree Dave. Interesting that he says it sometimes takes him a week to get a print right. I feel better now!

40x60 inch prints? How many test strips would that take..... Have a look at his website. There's an image there of his 12x20 camera-with FOUR tripods holding it up... You have really got to want to use that camera. His lens list makes me envious. Oh, and some of his photographs are rather nice too. (Fume!)

That cheered me up too. Some things cannot be rushed.

Some darkroom there and that was some print.

Interviewer: "Do you ever use 5x7 paper Clyde?"

Clyde: "Yes ,frequently in the winter when I need to blow my nose a lot."

"You can make huge prints from your digital camera but it doesn't come out the same" Amen.

Thanks Dave.

I took a "workshop" with him a few years ago, and he was very gung-ho about digital. So I was surprised at his comments about a B&W print. He's definitely a good guy with his environmental advocacy.
His darkroom is huge including a horizontal enlarger and some others in the dry side. The wet side is very well organized for producing large prints.
