De Vere 203 dimensions???
Hi all.
Am thinking of buying a De Vere 203 enlarger and can not find much information regarding dimensions on the internet. I print 35mm, 6x4.5 and 6x7 B&W up to 20 x 16 . Can any of you gents who use the 203 tell me how much height is required to accommodate the enlarger when the head is fully raised as I have limited headroom in my small darkroom. many thanks Russ |

Hello Russ
I hope this is the info you need. My manual is still in inches. Enlarger heights Dichromat 53.5 inches Varicon 59 inches Cathomag 53.5 inches overall width 24 inches overall depth 25 inches total weight 29kgs or 63lb in old money. Well worth buying, great enlargers, I’ve had mine for 35yrs. If you need any more info send me a pm. |

re De Vere 203
David.
Many thanks for the swift reply, the information you have supplied is exactly what I need to know. With some slight mods to my darkroom a 203 will fit but it will be tight. Many thanks Russ |

I would like to add my weight behind De Vere 203 choice. Superb engineering, a delight to maintain and use. Mine has a Multigrade 500H with 500C. Suggest you build your dry bench 120mm (5") lower than standard 850mm (33.5") to allow for front-of-baseboard controls.

I have both 504 and 203, I found the 203 slightly wobbly compared to the 504 which I solved by positioning a large weightlifters weight on to the 203 frame under the baseboard (I had to cut a piece of mdf to fit under the focusing drive shafts in order to support the weight) I also made a bracket to attach the top of the column to my darkroom wall, a lot more stable now.

If you are only using up to 6x7 formats the De Vere 203 is an excellent choice. I always use our 203 over our 504 for up to 6x7 - it is much easier to use for 35mm in particular as the lens is not set deep inside a sunken lens board, as is the case when using a 504 for 35mm.
Neil.
