Posting Images
In order to avoid confusion on the matter we thought it appropriate to make a statement to cover the use of images on this forum that have been captured digitally other than by scanning. We have several areas of this Forum that allow the posting of images, and we think that clarification of the types of images for each will help you decide what is acceptable.
Print / slide scanning.
Direct scanning of your print, or slide is the preferred method of obtaining a digital file for use in the Albums and Galleries. You will find advice in the Article section that details the issues surrounding colour balance that may assist you.
Negative scans.
Where possible these should be limited to the situation where you wish to discuss the negative rather than a print from it. We recognise that some of you are using film, but are not yet able to produce prints. We will accept converted negative scans in such circumstances, but ask that you note the fact that it is a negative scan on your submission, since this will assist those wishing to comment.
Digital snaps.
This forum is not anti-digital, simply pro-film and darkroom. The use of digital captures is a useful tool that is not excluded, but we ask that their use is limited to the illustration of Posts or Articles where it is not practical to use conventional means of image capture by way of film and print.
Manipulation.
As a general point please keep manipulation of an image file to a minimum, limiting it to matching the image with the original medium. Filtering and other enhancements are not welcome.
