Default What is your normal print size ?

What is the most common/most frequent size of print that you produce ?

I'm just curious.

I always used to do 10x8 as my standard print size but recently moved up to 11x14 as it suits my camera formats better.

Martin

I agree Martin,
14x11 suits my 6x7 and to a lesser extent 5x4 negs. I use a lot of MG Art which is available in 14x12 and more affordable than 20x16!

Paul

I've standardised on 16x20" prints and only fibre base. And if I get more space, as that's the main limiting factor, I may print 20x24" or bigger from time to time or for special projects.

All proofs are on 8x10" cut down to size from the same box of 16x20" paper. The proofs are sent out for print exchange rounds.

I've convinced myself, I print less, but I print better!

Hi! I voted 8x10", because it is the close relation to 18x24cm, which I really print. I like the ratio 3:4 also much better. I have only three prints hanging on walls. I rather like to take them in my hand, also a nice book size.

The A4 print means I can enlarge more or less the full negative then decide if I want to or need to print bigger or crop the original. 12x16 is close 2nd though

I'm still a novice at enlarging (contacts are another matter - 7"x5") and have used 10"x8" to get used to the business. But I have started enlarging 35mm on to 7"x5" and those two sizes are enough to be going on with. The enlarger's a Valoy II; so no MF or LF.

Varies for the purpose of the print, but not set in stone: 12×16" for club competitions/exhibitions, 10×8" or A4 for print exchange and potential publication (not done recently), Portfolio 10×15 cm for postcards, or 5×7" for family photos. All resincoated paper largely through idleness - haven't used FB for many a year.

For several years now I've standardised on Ilford Classic FB 10x8 for the majority of my printing. I also like making small 5x7 lith prints. And there will always be the odd negative that just has to be printed larger then I'll move to 11x14.

I tend to use about equal amounts of 11 x 14 and 5 x 7 as they are the sizes needed for the postal portfolios I am in.
