Default Is this simply a negative carrier?

Here's the link.

It looks as if it is a neg carrier that is designed to take a full 36 frame film which you load at one end and then pull through each negative that you wish to print

Just a guess on my part based on what looks to be a spool at either end

I don’t think it is necessarily for use in an enlarger. It looks like device for copying slides. The duplicating film goes on the spools, and the mounted slides are placed in the recessed silver part, one at a time. Perhaps it is a suitable size to fit in a Leitz enlarger. Durst produced similar devices for duplicating.

Default Copier

It looks to me like a Leitz 'Eldia' copier made originally for the screw thread rangefinder cameras. If I remember correctly, a full length of processed film would be fitted at one end, threaded across to the other and set so that one frame would be in the aperture seen in the image. then it would be wound onto the next frame to be copied but there was no interlock to stop you going past the frame.

I think that it would need other bits and pieces to be able to use it, such as a way of mounting the camera, I am not an expert by any measure on early Leica's but I am fairly confident that it is not a negative carrier for an enlarger.

Default Not a normal 'Eldia'

I have just searched on the web and whilst it has some of the details of an Eldia it is lacking an overall cover which an Eldia has. Leitz made some odd variations of designs of pieces of equipment that were ingenious, so I have to say - I don't really know.

I've found the answer. Here it is.

(Although the projector is described as "Slide", it takes this filmstrip adaptor).

Yes in its time it probably preceded the more sophisticated carousel projector of which it was a form of equivalent. The old two slide capacity projector must have been quite a pain to use if you were doing a long slide show

Default Projector

Quite right, I have seen one before, but it was around 58 years ago. My 1st camera club had one of the Leitz projectors similar to the one in the link, but it had a 250mm/F4 lens for projecting right down the hall onto a screen about 8 feet square. My goodness they were such good quality! The adapter was used occasionally when speakers had their work on film strips.

As I have a bit of an annoyance of bad descriptions, especially on ebay, I have just contacted the seller, giving them the link that Michael found = well done on that Michael!
