Default VickiB

After succumbing to the calls of the digital Sirens for several years, I have finally come back home to film. I am new to the darkroom, however. I am sharing this luxurious darkroom that Pavel built and am quickly learning that I have found my true home as I bask in the amber glow of the safelights and inhale the pungent odor of fixer. Partly through instruction and partly through trial and error, I am quickly learning the joys of making test strips and dodging and burning and selenium toning (we've had the room in its present state for less than two weeks!), and I am finding a deep satisfaction in the knowledge that I am creating something of beauty with my own hands and a few chemicals . . . and light.

In addition to cameras and film and the darkroom, I also share with Pavel a passion for photographing the historic cemeteries of the American South. I am attaching one of my first darkroom successes--a photograph I took last weekend at Oakdale Cemetery in the coastal town of Wilmington, North Carolina.

I look forward both to learning from those of you who have the knowledge and the experience I lack and to sharing ideas and photos with a group of like-minded people.

I have move VickiB's introduction to it's own thread so that it doesn't become confused with that on the new darkroom which is HERE.

Welcome to the forum Vicki, and your new darkroom, nice pic too.

Welcome from Down Under, Vicki. I'm glad to see anothjer cemetery enthusiast. Ours can't match the quality of that stone-work, though.

Default Cemetery photography

Stan, it's always nice to find someone who understands our passion for hanging out in old cemeteries--the older and mossier, the better. This weekend we're going to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia, one of the most beautiful we have found in the Southern US.
