Photography and Poetry
I have often thought how close photography is to poetry and have always appreciated how successfully elements of literature and prose can be illustrated by photography and a good basis for a photographic or poetic project. I found this link that may be of interest.

Without doubt poetry can do just that. When I was at college, on recommendation from a lecturer, reading Sir Gawain and the Green Giant helped me with direction in some landscape work.<p>
But I'm not sure whether poetry is special in this - reading a good book might do the same. I did read a paper somebody had written drawing parallels between photography and poetry - if I recall, I wasn't very impressed by the arguments - they were valid but not 'wow'.
