' A dozen greatest images' would make it easier !
However, if I have to pick one, then -

Great to see this link brought up again about 18 months since the last comment!

I've just gone through the whole list of the links and names and there really are some interesting pictures out there, many that I have never seen. It has therefore given me a chance to look at work of photographers that are new to me, so thank you to everyone for that.

As it's raining bucket loads with thunder and lightning at the moment, I have now something to do for the next half an hour or so, until I can get into the garden!

I must also revisit all of my books and see if I can come up with just one definitive favourite.

This is a great thread!
As so many have said - How to choose one? I can't

I like Ansel Adams work but not all of it. I like his various moon rises and this - http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ie908Plo1S...nsel-adams.jpg

But there's a lot of stuff out there from the great unknowns - http://www.flickr.com/photos/motto27...8/in/contacts/

Herbert Ponting with 'Grotto in an iceberg' circa 1911.

In my digital era it was all about having the right processor to more than handle what I wanted to process. Now building a darkroom I ponder over having the electrical sockets in the right places.

Darkroom legends like Herbert Ponting humble me: 'Grotto in an iceberg'.

Would it been seen as too much gloating to say that I have a copy, hand-printed by Brad, on my wall upstairs ?
( worth every penny of the £350 I paid for it, in 1999 ) .

Very nice Mark - I first saw that image in 1976 at 'The Land' exhibition, V&A Museum.

Default Land

Trevor,
I first saw that image in the book 'The Land' that must have been produced to go with the exhibition. There were many fine images in there - and I just checked & realised I have a copy of the book on my shelf . Excellent !
Bradford's print of this neg is a reference point to show what's possible - it's hardly enlarged from the 9 x 7 " aerial neg , and the texture on the snow is exquisite .
