Hi Marcus, and welcome to the Forum. I like your print of Tower Bridge. I see you list your occupation as 'Hacker'. I'm just curious, but what does that involve?
Alex.

Thanks, glad you like the print!

Heh, fair question! There's a bunch of definitions here. But basically, it means I like to tinker with stuff and challenge myself to refine and extend my abilities. In my day job (and a large part of my spare time) this is about writing software. But there's other areas that I approach with the same mindset (e.g. coffee roasting and preparation). Who knows, I might even become a photo hacker at some point.

That's good. I tend to think of 'hackers' as people who interfere with other people's computers, websites, etc. Someone recently 'hacked' my Instagram account which means that I can't share pictures with my kids via that website. I don't know what the 'hacker' gained from that as it was a private account, but it certainly messed it up for me.

Can't blame you, as sadly that's how these folks are typically labeled by media. They're crackers, though.

In Scotland, where I live, they have only ever been 'hackers'. The term was once used to describe very aggressive footballers who would deliberately foul an opponent, but that was in the '70's, before the internet was invented.
