+1 for Praktica MTL5. My first serious 35mm SLR. Nostalgia's not what it used to be..... but the cameras still work.

If this Zenit doesn't work I will look at the Praktica, but I'm really hoping the second time is the charm.

The other advantage of the Praktica is that it has a full range of shutter speeds, 1000 top and all the slow speeds, compared to the zenith, IIRC has 1/30 to 500

The Zenit B arrived and appears to be working well. I love the feel of it and the lack of instant feedback. I put the 44-2 lens from the broken Zenit E on the camera and I really like the feel of the lens. The manual focus is smooth and easy to use. Much different than trying to manually focus my modern lenses.
I’m looking forward to getting my first roll of film developed. I started with a color roll. |
