Default Gold toner & Ilford Multigrade RC (5th)

Hello fellowers! Anyone using gold toner with the latest (5th gen) Multigrade resin coated paper? I understand this paper is more malleable than its direct predecessor, so should I expect it will cool down considerably. Thanks.

No.

But if you find out please share.

I liked the cold tones Gold Toner gives, although the price of the toner is rather eye watering.

No as you haven't used it with the paper in question or no the paper will not cool down considerably?

I haven't used MGV or gold toner either, Miha so I can't be of any direct help but it was clear to me from watching a Lina Bessonova video on MGV after it was released to the market that one of its big advantages over MGIV was its ability to tone with sepia. It suggests to me that gold toner should work as well

Hi Mike, thanks for chiming in. Indeed, this is what I read about the MGV, however it looks like I'll just have to buy the toner it and try it. There are two reasons I'm after it - cool tones and archival longevity.

If a cooltone is what you are looking for, it's just a pity that Ilford stopped producing its Cooltone Developer a few years ago

I recall getting some Cooltone paper and what was the new products of Cooltone Developer as a gift on the last visit to the factory in 2008.

Combined it produced a cooltone that was almost icy

Selenium toner cools the Cooltone paper nicely. Has anyone obtained results with MGV and Selenium that they can comment on?

I'm not interested in selenium toner - too much hazard, almost no silver protection.
