Steve.
In Yorkshire that's the equivalent of next door neighbours and in the U.S. it's practically living in the same house

From Terry Gilliam's film, Jabberwocky:

Muckley? That's a way.

Two miles or more, easy.

Gosh, I'd love to travel someday.

As an optimist Steve, we will be when there's a bl**dy bridge.

I'm in Newport.

I'll leave William to speak for his location but for what its worth the last I spoke to him over a telephone I could hear the buses being fed hay in the background.

That will never happen!

We were towed away from Hampshire by tugboats back in 1974. No point going back again.

You make the I.O.W. sound like the kind of place where the local storekeeper( there's only one for a hundred miles ) is also the sheriff, judge and reverend

Apologies to our U.S. friends for whatever U.S. based TV sketch that I have taken the scene from.

Mike

I think The Two Ronnies did something similar and possibly James Finlayson in a Laurel and Hardy film.
