Default Hello from Manchester!

Hi guys,

I recently switched to film (leica m) from a dslr and haven't looked back! The difference is like night and day, particularly in regards to being more selective about what I shoot.

Before starting photography I knew I'd prefer the look of film, but chose digital because I felt the learning curve would be quicker. Now that I only have a film camera I feel this is the right direction for me.

I'm looking forward to doing my own developing and enlarging, and can envisage them being almost as enjoyable as shooting itself!

From shooting color landscapes with a dslr, I now shoot street in b&w, which is a little strange at first, but has proved to be greatly enjoyable

welcome to fadu you are right it is fun printing the negatives that you took and developed, and when you get it right its magic, and as I have said before you will be looking at them prints on and off for the rest of your life they are easy to store stick them in a box and put them in the cupboard, if you want to back them up make another copy and put them in a draw .
sorry about the bad humour, but its a great hobby.

Hi Andy. What you said above is the core of why I have returned to using film, to slow down and think about the whole process a lot more rather than grab-grab-grab.
Less time staring at a monitor using editing software will also be bliss. Much better to be in a dark space with the comfort of a radio and a cuppa.

Good luck.

Welcome Andy. Until you are fully set up you might want to try one of our sponsors, AgPhotographic, who has taken over a very good lab on B'ham.
