Default Camera manuals

Just being new here I don't wish to tread on any toes but I found a site based in America that has just about any film camera manual on PDF file for free download or just to view. I don't know if anyone else has posted about this place but I have found it to be a tremendously useful site. It also has manuals for some flash guns and meters too.

Have a look at orphancameras.com

No problem John - many of us know about the Butkus site and it has been mentioned several times.

Our main aim here is to complement, rather than duplicate, Butkus with the kinds of manuals he does not carry (tho' anyone is welcome to upload camera manuals that may/may not already be over there).

Cheers, Bob.

I have just tried to look at a camera manual on the Butkus site and every one I tried has come back 'Account suspended'. Anyone got any info on this?

just went on and tried the site and it seems to be working fine. Perhaps try giving it another go.

I tried earlier today and got the suspended message. The home page and list of manuals opens but the suspended message occurs when you try to access a manual PDF. It was the same 2 minutes ago when I tried.

Same here Bill. Clearly something has happened. All we can do is keep trying over the next day or so. If it's a technical website problem then presumably it is in Butkus' interest to get it solved quickly as he relies on contributions to keep it going.

If it is something more than this such as Butkus' faith on users making a contribution having being destroyed then maybe the site is being altered to ensure that there is a tariff for downloading.

Hopefully the site will continue in the future in some form

Mike

Default Mike Butkus manuals:

The site seems to be working with .html and not .pdf as I have been told by a US enthusiast. This may mean something to those with more knowledge of computers than myself.

Speculation is that the site is being revamped and will be back soon.

Also, that there may be some thoughts that he is funding this service out of his own pocket and people not chipping in with the cost when he asks for a donation.

In the meanwhile we may have to wait.

The pdfs are served from a different site (cameramanuals.org) - that is the site with the "account suspended" issue. Finger's crossed that it is a temporary glitch.
