Default tar removal

Colour developer residues ('tar') are soluble in citric acid, available from home-brew chemists. Both 5% w/v solution work well. It's non-toxic (lemon juice) and almost odourless. Be patient - it takes a day or two to work - give it a stir from time to time. Rinse well with water and then 1% w/v washing soda solution to neutralise retained acid.
This procedure only works with colour developer.

Default Cleaning

It makes one wonder why, if there are so many cleaning products available on the market to clean the processors. Bleach, Citric Acid and in the past I have used a automotive brake cleaning spray to shift the thickest layers of tar, they all work.

All the above can be used (with care in the case of bleach) and cost a lot less than the cleaner sold by NOVA and require a degree of protective clothing why they still sell it, with the accompanying risks.
