MPP 5x4 Monorail
I've just been meandering through my camera cupboard, and after upgrading the masking system on my Durst realise I can now go back and have another go at Large format. I have a couple of old Devere's that are complete and ok (apart from stiff bellows), an MMP MkVI with a MK VIII front standard (god knows how that happened) and an MPP Monorail. The quality of the MPP Monorail is by far the most superior of the bunch. And so I'm going to concentrate on this .I only have 1 lens panel. They seem quite specialist. With the other 3 cameras I have made replacement panels, this one has a lip around the edge. I remember reading somehere that a sinar would fit. so to the question. can anyone confirm which sinar panel will fit ?..
Thanks in advance.. Andy |

Hi Andy
I don't know if a Sinar/Horseman panel would fit your MPP, I have adapted all my large format cameras so that they all use modern Linhof/Wista type panels, there are cheaper copies of these panels available, they are also lighter and smaller than Sinar/Horseman, it may be worth your considering this option. Good luck. |

I acquired a new MPP myself a few days ago - This one appears to be a mix'n'match model... The serial number indicates it is a Mk VI, yet it has tripod mounts ala Mk VII as well as an international back. The lens board recess also seems to be a little larger than the ex-MoD S92 that I use.
Looking at the dimensions of the monorail lens boards on the MPP User site, I see they are 139mm square with a 2mm deep lip - Is there a corresponding groove in the front standard or will a flat panel fit ? Also wonder if it is worth making an adapter plate so that you could use the smaller Mk.VIII panels. |

I am pretty sure that the MPP Monorail uses the same panel as a Sinar (139mm square). If you decide to take Vanannan's advice there are Chinese sellers of Sinar to Linhof adapters sold on *bay.

Hi Andy,
As Roger says, joining the MPP users club would be a good idea. The membership is about £10 per year and they will supply you with lens panels for a modest charge. Regards, Mark |

I'm another reply suggesting that you for join the MPP Users Club, I've had a lot of assistance from them, and I suspect that you will too, you only need to ask.
