Foma 200 good price, any good?
I am not linked to this
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fomapan-2...edirect=mobile I was tempted by the price. What can you tell me about Foma 200? From the little information I have found on the net I understand that it is best exposed at 100 or 125 and that the film is almost a T grain film like Ilford Delta.

Never tried it Norm, but couldn't help noticing this item in the 'suggested products' thing which scrolls across the bottom of the page.

As it's a photographic shop selling this item, one can only hope that it's a stock photo from Ilford, but even then it seems such a waste of good film... These types of pictures should be banned, as it only encourages other sellers who don't know any different, from fanning out sheets of darkroom paper to take a picture of the item that they are selling. And looking at another item that the company are selling, I can't believe the price of Portra film now - and it's not even boxed!?!?!: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/274653933...0AAOSwM95gCE6s Terry S |

Fomapan 200 is a good film, but use at 100 EI and cut development to approx 75% compared to other films, this helps tame its contrast.

The fomapan 200 is indeed a good film, I use both the 400 and 200, the 200 has a tonality all of it's own,as does the 400, I develop both at box speed in Rodinal 1/50, the 200 for 16 minutes and this gives me negatives that print very well and fairly easily, for 400 I use rodinal 1/50 for 18 minutes, at 20 for both, again at box, at that price I would get some of the 200 and try it, you'll like it I'm sure. If developing in 1d11 or other develoipers expose at 100 0r 125,
Richard

I have used Forma 200 a few times and infact |I have a cassette to develop later today. I find it a little soft in contrast but I can manage that without a problem. Try rating it at 160 instead of 200 that cures the contrast problem.
The grain is about the the same as Kentmere so for normal enlargements it is perfectly fine. |

Foma 200 ist my most used 35 mm film.
Exposed with 125 ASA it can be developed in Rodinal. I use 1+50, 16°C, 16 mins. The film works well with Atomal 49 developer. It can be exposed with 250 ASA. I use A49 1+1 (singel shot), 20°C, 14 mins. Please keep in mind that the current formulation of A49 loses activity if solved: 5% per week. It is necessary to increase the devleoping times. You find some examples made with this film in the exchange gallery. The 30 m roll sells for 47 € at the moment: https://www.fotoimpex.de/shop/filme/...che=1652552385 |

Terry what picture is causing your smile to drop? I couldn't quite work out why if its clearance, does it have a claimed expiry date of June 2026? Clearance normally suggests an imminent expiry date and on the label I see a date of April 2022 which makes sense for clearance
I am confused on both aspects. Can anyone help me Thanks Mike |

If petrol per litre wasn't about the price of Portra per roll I'd be tempted to drive across to the shop in Kettering to have a look Mike |
