Default Storage in General

Hi All, here goes for a really dumb question.

Most replies in the threads refer to storing film and paper in fridges / freezers for longevity. My little darkshed has no permanant electrical supply and no room for a fridge even if it had. No room in the house for another appliance and no garage. Best I can do is ambient temp in the house.

This has never really cropped up before for me as I always bought small quantities of paper etc, but have recently taken a larger delivery and will not use everything up quickly, maybe not for months.

Anybody else have this "problem" and how do you get round it ?

Ian

All my film and paper is stored in an ambient temperature of about 18 / 22C and I have yet to notice any fall off in performance over a period of years.

I have been doing photography since year dot( it seems that long) and I have never kept any film paper chemicals in the fridge or freezer I keep my paper, film, in a plastic box with a lid and my chemicals in another plastic box with a lid ,and keep them out of the sun or away from a radiators ,and I keep them in a cool place .this works for me and keeps everything nice and tidy.

Exactly the same as me. To this day I have never stored film in a fridge, but kept them in a cupboard away from heat and light, and have never encountered any problems whatsoever. Again, chemicals and paper are kept in the darkroom cupboard.

Not so quick Ian, a great many do refrigerate both film and paper.
