Default Ilford Packaging

I've been given some expired FP4+. I know it's pretty elderly as it's in the old black packaging, but there's no actual date on it.

Does anyone know roughly when Ilford swapped over to the white labels? That'll at least give me its minimum age. There's nothing in the timeline here (an interesting read in itself though).

Thanks in advance.

Sorry No. Michael but if no-one else here has an answer then try Ilford's help desk either by phone or e-mail. If you want to know quickly I'd try the phone. The lady at llford is very good but e-mails can take a few days to answer.

It was sometime around mid 00's, if my memory serves me good.

Cheers, M.

Hi Michael,

IIRC, Ilford changed its black packaging for white to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2004, just before the company went into receivership. FP4 Plus was launched in 1990, which will give you a maximum age for it.

If you have a batch number, contact Harman as they might be able to give you a production or expiry date for it. They're very helpful with these things. :-)

Cheers,
kevs
