I have seen a large number of posts that have been written using 'Tapatalk'. I have come across adverts for this this ap. but have never looked at it or tried to use it. What if anything does it do that would be an advantage over just posting normally?

Thanks, Mike

Taptalk is for mobile phones, simplifies the Forums to make threads and posts more accessible on a tiny screen.

So if you see that it means the reply was made from a mobile phone.

The term 'tiny screen' is exactly the reason I do not use the internet side of my 'phone'. For the life of me I cannot understand why people use their phones for this purpose unless they have perfect vision. Why would I want to use a screen around 3x5 inches when my laptop has a 15" screen.
Nor can I understand why they use a mobile as a satnav for the same reason, the one in my car is easily twice the size and the one for my motorcycle is not that much smaller.
Is that because I am older than a lot of people and have never taken to them for anything else apart from talking to people or sending text messages.

You have Google Maps there which is more accurate and knows nearly every building site and rerouting.

Yes indeed you have, but that raises a the possibility of couple of other problems.
Firstly in UK it is illegal to hold or operate a mobile phone when you are driving and the fines plus loss of your licence for repeated infringements is not a possibility. it is a dead certainty. They are starting to place cameras overhead and on the side of the road which can detect when a phone is being used, identify the vehicle and picture the driver is. (and not before time!)

You cannot convice me that people will stop to make adjustments to the phone such as inputting an address and unless the car is stopped or operated by a passenger......get ready to start walking!

The the size of the screen on the phone is a lot smaller than a 'proper' satnav and if you miss hear a spoken direction, it is natural to look at the screen to check to see what is going on. In those few seconds you are looking away from the road tying to focus on the postage sized screen you are no longer in control of a 2 ton killing machine.

Because some of us like to look at the forum during our lunch breaks at work and their laptops are at home.

The word Tapatalk always reminds me of the slightly comical scene and song Happy Talk from South Pacific.

I am not sure why

I can't get along with it. But that probably says more about me than the app!

I'm with you there, Marty. I haven't tried paying for the app, though: it might be more useful that way.

I use it for FADU and some other sites I visit. It works well on iPhones. It doesn’t allow viewing of the whole site. The galleries aren’t accessible.
