My plan is to join you for lunch on the saturday and stay until either sunday night or monday morning (preferably monday). I would like to go to Hay Tor, I can't remember if I wasn't once there in a different activity. I haven't booked the hotel yet, I hope there's still space.
I've worked out it's 50 years since I last set foot on Dartmoor and probably 45 for Newton Abbot. Getting old isn't fun!
Great news.

I hope that you enjoy yourself.

Trips like this always come with the usual health warming to bring lots of waterproof clothing and some walking boots or wellies.

I have no doubt that you remember Dartmoor shares the characteristic common to many exposed upland areas of horizontal rain that is capable of getting in every conceivable crack and joint of your clothing

Unfortunately, I am unable to attend the Dartmoor meeting due to work commitments. However, I thought I would add a link to a fellow analogue photographer who lives on Dartmoor who often uses liquid emulsions for his enlargements. Hope this is of interest to you.

Hi guys

The date of our meet-up is sneaking up on us - so I thought I would do a quick review of who I think is turning up.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Coming :-
  • Myself
  • Barry Wilkinson
  • Bob Francis
  • David Langham
  • Clive Vincent
  • Rob Archer
  • Tony & Jean Marlow
  • Ian Grant
  • Jolyon

TBA:-
  • Paul Diz

Everyone is welcome - so please feel free to come along, even if it is just for part of a day.

Also, everyone who is coming, please bring some prints to share with the rest of the group - but - please, keep the number of prints down to no more than 20~ish.

Personally, I find the print showing to be one of the best bits of the meeting.

Thanks

Martin

Bob,

More on this later when I know how things are going with the hospital. For now enjoy yourself on Dartmoor with Martin and come back with some lovely pics.

Neil.

Excellent! I will certainly try: one good pic and I would consider it a good trip (photographically speaking - I'm sure it will be a good trip otherwise anyway )

Hi guys

I have slightly updated and refined the weekends plan.

Friday afternoon
Meet in the Beefeater Restaurant next to the Premier Inn.
The restaurant is called the Grandstand Restaurant (TQ12 3AF).
Table for 10 booked for 18:00hrs.
Revise and update the weekends plans as required.
Saturday
AM – Wistman's Wood (PL20 6SW)

Lunch at the Two Bridges Hotel, Two Bridges, Dartmoor (PL20 6SW)

PM – The clapper bridge at Postbridge (PL20 6TH) – for those who can drag themselves away from Wistman’s

Late afternoon – print sharing at the Grandstand Restaurant (TQ12 3AF)

Dinner – Indian – Naz – Newton Abbott (TQ12 2NG) – 19:00hrs – booked for 10 persons.
Sunday
AM - Norsworthy Bridge Carpark (PL20 6PE) – ancient oaks and small streams at the top of Burrator Reservoir

Lunch – Princetown – The Prince of Wales (PL20 6QF) – this is a change to where we have gone in the past but The Plume of Feathers is undergoing refurbishment.

PM - Dartmeet (PL20 6SG)

Late afternoon – general chatting and possibly more print sharing at the Grandstand Restaurant (TQ12 3AF)
Dinner – Italian – Riccas Italian Restaurant (TQ12 2AU) – 19:00hrs – booked for 9 persons (as we will sadly have lost Rob Archer by this point).
Monday
AM - Haytor Rocks (TQ13 9XT) - for those of us who can face some more photography and who’s clothes and cameras are not completely sodden.

Then we break up and all head for home, clutching out valuable rolls of film full of wonderful photographs from the weekend (we hope).

It goes without saying stout footwear/walking boots for the weekend are a must, as is warm and waterproof clothing.

Sunset will be around 17:00, so we won’t be out late each day.

Hope this is OK with everyone.

Martin

Guys, I'll see everyone tomorrow in the bar at the Premier Inn.

Have a good journey everyone.

I'm not planning on being there before about 16:30.
