Clear base
Hi,
Does anyone happen to know which (mono-) film has the lowest base plus fog density? I was thinking of copying some negatives, turning them into positives, to see how they turn out as slides. In addition I have some colour slides that I would like to print in the darkroom, but obviously I can use any film to make a negative of those. By the way, the only film I have measured was HP5+, although one doesn't need to measure it to see it would not be suitable. Came to 0,33; I think it's getting a bit long in the tooth. I would appreciate suggestions, links, measurements etc. Regards, Bert |

That depends on how you develop the film.

As I'm interested in differences between films the developer would be the same for all of them. HC110 for example, to mention one that has a good reputation for not giving much fog.

You want a film on PET rather than acetate. As far as I remember (not my strong suit), Adox use PET.

That would be a good starting point I guess. I'll start looking, Rollei films also spring to mind. What I could ofcourse do is buy some of the suspects, and see what a blank strip of film turns out like.

Certainly will, thanks for the suggestions on both PET and Adox. As it's getting late I should be looking for my bed first. To be continued.

Why not take a look at Foma b/w positive film, made for black and white slides, Other than that then Rollei Retro is on a clear base, said to be suited to positives

Clear base
Hi everyone,
I had a look Adox specifically this morning. @Miha: yes, I'll go with your advice. @ Richard: I will have a look at Foma later on. This is simply for a practical reason. I have an order on hold waiting for an out of stock item at Macodirect, they don't seem to stock the film you mention. So I'll send them a mail and add a few CHS's. In the meantime I will see about turning a colour slide into a black and white print. Thanks for the advice so far, the road ahead is clear |
