Keartons' camera saved for the nation
Spotted in the Guardian.

Very funny. And today's spoiled photographers (myself included) complain about the hardships they face.
A bloke from over the pond where you are, an actor named Charlie Chaplin, once said that genius was dedication to the point of madness. Charlie would have known. PS: A hundred years ago the U. S. instituted the income tax. Chaplin was outraged in hearing he would have to pay one percent of his $1 million salary. We all have our troubles. |

Interesting article. Thwaite is close to where I live and their names live on in the Kearton Country Hotel. Their house still stands too but is a private dwelling.

funny yet very interesting read, what a dangerous life they lead, one could imagine the rush they experienced with no health and safety being crammed down their throats.

A new exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society in London features some "lost" photos taken by Cherry Kearton whilst on safari in Africa, where he met Teddy and Kermit Roosevelt slaughtering everything around them.
