Special thanks to post about the great Gordon Parks, Nick.
I can highly recommend the books made by Steidl about his work: https://steidl.de/Artists/Gordon-Parks-1428333748.html . There is a 5-Volume-Set and some may be surprised where he all excelled. Also his Paris fashion photography is brilliant.

I think Parks is one of my all-time favourite photographers. His work is compelling, emotional and moving, but without hitting the viewer in the face with overdone drama. Very thought provoking. Brilliant photographer, and highly underrated I think.

The Art Gallery of Ontario had a large exhibit a few years ago called The Outsiders, which included images by Parks along with Danny Lyons, Diane Arbus, Lisette Model, Garry Winogrand, and several others. Parks' images were the best of the lot -- very powerful.

Thanks for posting Nick!

The link that Frank has given, is well worth reading - it's quite short but it shows what a very talented man Gordon Parks was, and not just in photography.

The link will tell you more, but he was a self taught photographer and ended up with, 'more than 50 honorary degrees'.
