JOBO Bust?
It seems that JOBO is being wound up. Does anyone have any more detailed information?

Yes Dave. It sounds as if under definitions of "bust" under European law, it is more akin to administration that straight "bust" as in liquidation.
There is quite large thread on it elsewhere. In fact so large I hesitate to try and summarise or say more than what I have gleaned above. Sheer numbers on the other site means more info but usually less accurate than info here and the need to be able to sort wheat from chaff which often is a pain. The best info seemed to stem from members in Germany. Maybe our German contingent here on FADU will be able to give us something meaningful. Mike |

If you search for Photoscala in Google and translate the page there is more information there.

Hmm Based on the number of posts here this thread doesn't appear to have excited too many. Might indicate that the Jobo crisis isn't a crisis for most of us. It may be that the equipment we need from Jobo now comes from the secondhand stock only, so a "bust" won't make a lot of difference.
However for what it is worth a guy called Mirko from Fotoimpex has confirmed the "in adminstration but still trading" scenario and perhaps more importantly seems very hopeful that Jobo will be able to continue. As a German entrepreneur who appears to be in the know better than most, this sounds like good news of the cautiously optimistic kind. Mike |

I have used a Jobo CPE-2 for 20 years or so and found it good for the odd colour print but in conjunction with a ‘fish tank circulator’ excellent for E6 work.
But like all equipment that is well made, it does not need replacing, so sales must have tumbled recently. The problem is that when more people find that E6 film in conjunction with a reasonably good scanner is far better than the average D – camera, Jobo will be long gone! Progress I am told…….. David. |
