Default WTB Large red filter 25a or 29

Looking for either a glass filter 77mm therad, or any make red filter to fit Cokin P, other fit possible must be minimum 77mm wide - 25, 25A or 29

It's to make an enlarger red filter for a restoration project.

Ian - While it's out of stock at the moment, Speed Graphic do list a Hoya filter here. They're helpful people: no harm 'phoning them at 01420 560066.

Ian, I suspect more than you want to pay but SDS has a secondhand Hoya red 77mm at £18

Isn't there a place selling the right kind of red gel that would be a lot cheaper? I recall vaguely something on APUG about gels but of course it might be U.S. based.

Get in touch with SRB Griturn, based in Luton. (Google the name). They have masses of types of filters of all sizes. In the AP this week they are advertising IR filters (opaque) up to 105mm and Cokin 'P' type so they should be able to help you out.

Update. 7dayshop has a red gel square filter for £3.29. Can't say if this will be good enough for the enlarger but I defy anyone to find a filter cheaper

Mike.

Thanks Mike, I'll never ever buy anything off SDS unfortunatly, why is not for discussion.

I had looked at the SRB Griturn site but it's changed. I've not looked at AP in many years but I'll give them a call next week they were my first thought but the website is very different to a year or so ago when they were a good option. (Thaqnks John),

A gelatin square is an option but would posibly need to be sandwiched between something else, I do have some red acetate but it's not right, I'll have a look at 7dayshop though as the price is OK.

Nip down to your local litho printers. See if they have some Rubilith. It is a deep red sticky backed plastic film. Find a suitable carrier (anything that will hold some sticky tape, like a piece of plastic). Then put it under your enlarger and make your own tests. I used it on a 6 foot fluorescent tube for my darkroom safelighting..... However, this was used in the days when film was used to make litho plates-it's all gone digital now...
