So what's the benefits of this over other print devs.? I would suspect it would give reasonably warm results(?)

I feel some experimentation coming on.

D-163 is a Kodak devised warm-tone paper developer with they no longer sell. Silverprint have this ready-mixed: http://www.silverprint.co.uk/Product...asp?PrGrp=5021.

BTW, it is usual to list the ingredients in the order that they should be mixed as some chemicals will not dissolve under certain conditions or need the preservative added to the water beforehand (not sure if any of that applies here tho...).

Code:
Water @55C 750ml
Metol 2.2g
Sodium Sulfite (anhyd) 75g
Hydroquinone 17g
Sodium Carbonate (anhyd) 65g
Potassium Bromide 2.8g
Cold water to make 1000ml
Speedibrews describe it as: "A clean, long-lived print developer." - sounds good... I keep meaning to try it but keep forgetting and buying more Neutol WA & Ilford warm dev...

I have mixed up this formula from the chemicals many times - it was a bit heavy on the Hydroquinone, so tried another one, then a friend GAVE me a lot of Hydroquinone so I have used it again! It works OK with RC papers as well as Fibre based papers.
