Default Some testing and experimentation

Is the light-leak fixed on my Moscow 5? Is the recently gifted 5-year expired Delta 100 any good? Out of Rodinal, what shall I mix from the available chemicals?

All successful: The light leak was caused purely by leaving the red window uncovered, the film appears fine, and the choice of D23 at stock strength for 8 minutes at 20C seems a perfect match for it.

Seriously low grain. At a 6"x6" enlargement not only can I not see any grain on the print, but could barely make it out with the focuser. After hearing D23 described as a low contrast developer, also pleasantly surprised to find my sunny-16 exposed negatives all print at G2 or G3 with no blown out highlights or blocky shadows.

Think I've found a close to perfect combination without even trying

Good to hear you've found the 'perfect combination' - now you've found it, stay with it

I'm with Trevor; don't move. Happiness is a perfect negative.

Let's hope it works just as well with fresh film, or I will be begging expired rolls in the wanted forum! It's a very nice alternative to HP5+ in ID-68, often pushed and grainy, that's my regular 35mm option.

Next step is to mix some DK-25R replenisher for the D23, after a trip to Silverprint for sodium metaborate.

D23 is one of film photography's best kept secrets - seems too simple to be true unless you try it!

OTOH for me ID11/D76 gives me more of the 'edge' I like.
