Fomapan Classic 100 -confused from Essex
I developed a roll of Fomapan Classic 100 last night ,and when I was cutting them up and putting them in sleeves ,I notest the word ULTRA on the edge of the film ,now I am easily confused because on the box it says Fomapan classic 100 ,Now a question for all you Fomapan users , is Classic the same as Ultra .

Assuming it is 120 all the fomapan 120 film's are edge marked Ultra, got me confused the first time I developed some Fomapan 120, as did the blue base they used to use, but then, I am easily confused

I have a feeling that the word Ultra is what a company called Freestyle calls its films which allegedly are rebadged Foma films
If this is not the explanation then it just seems one heck of a coincidence Mike |

Mike your thinking of Freestyle's arista films, which are the re badged fomapan film's there is 35mm which is Arista edu and I think they call their 120 arista edu ultra, but the word Ultra on the foma films have been side printed for as long as I have been using them, around 25 years, which is before Freestyle re badged the foma film, I think, at one time they re badged Kodak film's then when they got to expensive they went to Foma, on their data sheet the state the 120 films are edge marked Ultra

I developed my first Fomapan the other day (400 120, also edge-marked 'Ultra') and the blue took me by surprise also.
Seems like a particularly 'intense' backing, wasn't entirely removed by the developer (ID11), even though it turned blue, and then actually turned my yellow indicator stop bath green - never seen that happen before!

Thanks Richard. That clears it up. Maybe with the word Ultra already there Freestyle made a virtue of a necessity so to speak by including the word Ultra in their name for what is a Foma film
What is it that the marketing characters call this- product differentiation is it? In other words a "con" that you have a "new" film Mike |

, but from what I read over on Photrio it is not Foma re branded, but I am not sure where it comes from,it all seems to get a little confusing the other side of the pond Richard
