Iconic buildings
Found some interesting photographs on facebook about this factory https://www.velux.com/what-we-do/hea...centre-denmark
I have been trying to think of iconic buildings in this country that would be interesting to photograph. The Dunlop Tyre factory (now hotel) in Brum. springs to mind, have you photographed any interesting factories in the UK or do you know of any that need to be photographed before they are pulled down or developed?

There's an abandoned silk mill about 10 minutes from me. It is mostly as it was the day it was closed on July 7 1957. Groups have been allowed in to photograph on many occasions. It's future is unknown as the owner passed in 2019 and information is scarce.

Interestingly enough, our local photo club has teamed up with the town council as well as some local historical societies to document their projects for the city archive.
I'm not entirely sure how it's all progressing as it's all being done digitally. However from what I've seen so far, it's first and foremost a record of the before, during and after phases. Only time will tell if the work has any real significance.

Maybe not as iconic as many of your building's, but I am about to start a new project to photograph the many WW 2 German building's, bunkers, gun emplacement's Ect over here, they are historically important to us and are, I think, Iconic in our Islands history, and a record of them should be made, and some of them, although from one of the worst periods in our recent history, are iconic to us.

I am a local historian, amateur, but it is well known over here that Forced labour was used to build these, many Russian slave labourers were bought here, and many died, it is known, from local's personal experiences that many of these slave labourer's were worked to death, when they passed the Nazi's would simply throw them into the concrete and build over them, I was not born until it was all over, but it affected my family in that a Great Aunt who I never met, but know about from Family telling me, Died because of it, Great Aunt Louisa hid an escaped Russian Slave labourer, He was passed around the Family, but a neighbour of hers gave her away, and she was arrested, and died in a gas chamber in a concentration camp in fact there was a film made recently about her story, called Some Mothers son, but I think that these building's are an important and iconic part of our history, and should be preserved for future generation's, perhaps the story of what happened maybe will help, in a small way, prevent such terrible events happening again, and to answer your Question Norm, I have read John's book, and along with many her I helped contribute to a very small part, with regards to my family's part in it,
Richard
