Default Paper studio

I've mentioned this in other posts where I've shown photos of old cameras, but here, in all it's glory, is my paper studio for photographing small objects / still life.

It consists of two pieces of A4 printer paper and, er, that's it!

To scale it up, merely use two large pieces of card from the stationers instead of the A4 paper.

In the examples shown, I've used window light, but flash (preferably with a softbox) or any other light source can be used.

The important thing is to have the main light source at least four times as far away from the object as the reflector (that is, if the light source is two foot from the subject, the reflector should be around six inches from it) so that the shadow fill is correctly balanced.

It works very well and seems especially suited to those instances on FADU when and if they arise when a friend needs to show the item in some detail when say it is a vital piece of equipment with which a problem has arisen.

Worth considering

Mike
