Default Hello Fadu

Well, it's been quite a while since I was last 'active' on a forum (reads like a confession doesn't it!) and it all feels quite strange and new.

Most things Photographic have been mothballed for the last couple of years, since the birth of my wonderful son and I've contented myself with buying new gear. But now that things are becoming less intensive, fatherhood-wise, I truly want to go cold-turkey on the gear and get back to some serious picture-taking and being industrious in the darkroom.

I'm pretty much self-taught and use many formats but even so, I must admit, I'm feeling a little bit apprehensive having been out of the dark for so long.
I've cleared and cleaned the darkroom (no mean feat after 2 years I can tell you!) and prepared all the chemistry. And now, at long last, this weekend will mark the start of a new chapter in my photographic life, one in which I hope I'll be able to share with my little boy.

Fadu registration, like many things of late, has been on hold. At least until I felt I was in a position to participate. I'm especially looking forward to the print exchanges but also the general support, growing and I'm sure at times... failing.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone

Although horror of horrors!
Someone's tried to break-in recently and we've only just noticed so I've spent most of this evening changing locks to something more substantial and even then I think we're going to need a more permanent solution.
They've also tried a few of my neighbours as well judging by what look like screwdriver marks around locks but nothing seems to have been stolen so let's hope it was just an opportunist who will not return (in a hurry).
Even though I'm insured, it's still bl**dy annoying.

On a more positive note there's still tomorrow to get into the darkroom and I will do my utmost.

Once again thanks to all and sorry for the wingeing,

MartyNL

Hi Marty and welcome to FADU. Sorry to hear about your attempted burglary. You were targetted because he knew your were a photographer but took nothing because he thought you were a d***tal photographer and wasn't able to recognise the worth of the other kind of photography:
