New Camera
I have just got hold of a Yashicamat LM 6x6 Camera and some other bits. It came with a Leather case thats in excellent condition, two close up lens in leather cases, also like new, a cable release and a hand grip, complete with boxes and manual.
I started to read the manual and a piece of paper fell out, when I opened it , it was a receipt, see image below. The camera is like new and everything works including the lightmeter, I have just cleaned it and loaded a film ready to test it out. When I looked up what the guy paid for it in 1965 it would have been nearly £800.00 in todays money, and the Hp loan was for £25.00 nearly £400.00 in today's money. From the serial number it looks like it was new in 1961. MJ. |

Quite a find and interesting about the relationship of mid 60s prices to wages of that era

The LM was an up market version of the Yashicamat and the direct descendant was the Yashica 124. Good cameras but as clones of the Rollie, I much prefer the Minolta Autocord version, a bit heavier but so very well built and the lens was outstanding.

I'm sure it will be a very capable camera. I have a yashica mat 124g. Enjoy!

I had a Yashicamat 124g many years ago in the early eighties, I loved using that.

I have a Rolleiflex 3,5F – my most beloved camera. This Yashica is very similar: Use it and enjoy it.

Yashicamats are fine cameras very capapble, I use a later 124 wich I keep abroad and have shot a few hundred rolls of film with over the last 15 years. While it's not as rugged and heavy as my two Rolleiflex cameras it's OK.

I have a 124G which I love using and the same solid hand grip which I found on a flea market.
