And was delivered today. Wow, what a beautiful print!
Michael sent me his print called "View south west from Mahee Island", beautifully printed on Ilford Art 300 and selenium toned for protection. It shows a view from Mahee Island in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland, in the direction of Down Cruising Club. You can just see their lightship in the distance if you look closely. Wonderful tones and a beautiful play of light and dark in the image. Since I've only started darkroom printing myself exactly one year ago, I had never seen a print on Art 300 in real life before and I must say it really is something special! Thank you Michael, I'm very happy to add this print to my collection! |

Sebastiaan, I'm very glad you like the print. I've been enlarging only a short while too (plenty of sheet film contacts before that) but luckily my Leicas are producing good negatives for me.
The scan will be fuzzier than the print; but that has to be secondary. |

And got delivered back to my house!
According to the Dutch postal service they made a sorting error, and apparently then they made a sorting error again, resulting in a "return to sender" rather than the labeled "forward to recipient" they had put on it. Customer service told me I did nothing wrong, it just seems to happen sometimes... I've put them in a new envelope, double checked the weight again, put new postage on it and posted them again today. Let's hope they will find their destination this time! |

This has happened to me a number of times as well Buzz. It's really frustrating after going out of ones way to take it to a Post Office, only for it to be delivered back oneself the following day...
On the majority of my envelopes and packages, I usually put a white label with about 20pt black type on one side, with a MUCH smaller rubber stamp of my address on the reverse, and yet the above still happens. If I do this now, rather than just putting the recipients address on, I write with a black marker pen the words, 'To:' and 'From:' next to each address. So far, none of these packages have been returned to me, but I believe it's only a matter of time... Terry S |

Frustrating indeed Terry, luckily this was the first time ever for me that an envelope actually got returned to my address.
But I'm glad it got returned to me rather than having it gotten totally lost. The customer service told me it was a sorting / routing error of their machine, just a matter of bad luck. The addressing as I wrote it should not have been the problem they said. Even though they clearly labeled it to be re-routed and delivered to the recipient, for some reason somewhere in the chain of the postal process it's been decided that it should be delivered back to me. Possibly because they'd know there would be no way of getting it back into the normal flow of their system. I don't know. Long live the world where we obey systems, rather than the other way around, I guess? Anyway, I've posted it again, fingers crossed! |

I just received two beautiful prints from BuzzNL. The first shot is a luxurious safari tent at a camping place. I like the illusion of light- only this tent is illuminated, all landscape around is dark.
The second shot is a blossom of a neophyte, Heraclum. My wife likes this most. Sebastiaan used an Opemus enlarger. I used an Opemus 4 for decades and still have an Opemus V for backup. It is good to know that I could use a warm white LED bulb instead of the old bulbs. Thank you. |
