I checked out my local pound shop but no disposable cameras were forthcoming... the charity shop was more obliging with a 'panorama' optical lens camera. oh.. and a one pound film I already have. So if we're allowed to bend the rules a little, that's what I'll use.

Would it be all right to use my Brownie 127 (1955, 12th birthday present)? Meniscus lens. I have a couple of rolls of Rollei Retro 80 left, I think.
Contacts it will have to be, as I have no enlarger. |

Wow- a charity shop refugee and a 127 Brownie! This is brilliant. All my early photos were on a 127 Brownie ( a grey one).
My "Boots the Chemist twin-pack, ISO 400 (Basic)" now sounds positively hi-tech and luxurious. Of course, my film is absolutely fresh- maybe I should microwave or Boil-in-a-bag the camera before it goes for processing, just to get those funky colours. I was out before first-light to get in position to shoot a natural arch on the shore in Ness- 5x4, spot meter, zone, blah blah. By 1.30 I was in the Criterion bar shooting a disposable camera! I'm almost scared to find out which will be more interesting! |

I've got an old Kodak SIX-20 BROWNIE D that an old lady in the village gave me. No spools but I'll try to get hold of a couple and give it a go.

I shot the first of my 'twin-pack' Boots blue plastic cheapos today.
I'm hoping to drop it of for processing tomorrow. The second one is cooking already, but . . . seems like I've got some ancient colour neg in the bottom of the freezer! One roll is 10 years past its 'knackered date'!! I'm quite tempted to try the charity shops tomorrow in search of something tragic to shoot it in. What puzzles me is that although everyone and their dog now has a digicam, I hardly ever see old film cameras in the junk shops. Does that mean people hang on to them out of nostalgia, or (groan) they go straight to the tip because, as we all know . . . "You can't buy film for these anymore." |

Picked up my first set of prints yesterday lunchtime.
Of the 27 frames, several were too thin to print well- I'd been overly adventurous in shooting some low light stuff. The camera presumably has a small aperture (f11, f16?) and a single speed (around 1/60-1/100?). So with ISO400 film the negs will be a little dense but easy to print when exposed in full sunshine, and still usable on overcast days. I've picked my three favourites from the roll and posted in the 'Toy Camera Gallery'. On one I've cheated a little and cropped almost square, 'cos I liked it better! For the second roll I'm satisfying myself by shooting only in better light, so hoping for a better success rate from camera 2. Cheers, Skellum |

Can't find any disposables, my local shop has sold out because, apparently, these cameras have become have become a fade with young people, taking them to night clubs and raves etc. Did manage to pick up a plastic Franka NX-40 ( a sort of poor mans Lomo) for £1.00 in a charity shop. 50.00 mm plastic lens with 4 f.stops, f6 to f16 ( sunny to cloudy). Just loaded it with some out of date Kodak Gold and now ready to shoot.
