Question Strange 'Micro-bubbles' on film back surface.

I have been developing some B&W films for friends and on one Fuji Neopan I got strange 'Micro-bubbles' on the back surface like clear 'pips'-- very strange as other Fuji Neopan 400 I have done has not shown this effect-- the only other time I've got it is with some 120 ORWO NP22 film in PH35 formula I mix myself. The Neopan 400 was done in Acutol S FX15 formula I mixed myself, diluted 1+1. Hope you may help? Peter.

Hi Peter

My first thought is that they may be "air bells" which are generally caused by insufficient agitation but your description does not tally with that. You say that you mixed the developer yourself, do I take that to mean that you made the developer from raw chemicals? If so the problem could be caused by small particles of chemical not fully disolved in the solution. Can you post a scan of a close up section of the negatives showing the fault?

Les : the 'things' are clear solid 'pips' and I mixed the developer from chemicals -- but I cannot 'post a scan' of the surface as I no longer have the film -it went away to the person I developed it for -- the 'pips' did not print through on contact sheet as they are clear. Maybe it was FIXER loaded with Silver although I use a two-bath fixer?
