Default Manfrotto £50 cashback

Just a mention in case you are in the market for a new tripod before the end of the year.

Manfrotto are giving a £50 cashback on purchases of Manfrotto 190 or 055 tripods (https://www.manfrotto.com/uk-en/spec...0-055-tripods/). You need to buy through an "authorised dealer" but other than that, any version of 190 or 055 tripod seems to qualify.

I've been mulling the purchase of a carbon fibre 055 and this tipped me over the edge... Arrived yesterday

At the Camera Fiar I go to a Manfrottoo tripod can often be found for £50, and that's in excellent condition

Yes, but I suspect not a 055 in carbon fibre. I checked ebay previously and aluminium 055s like the one I already have typically go for around £50 - £60.

Saying that, if you do not mind waiting, good bargains on the previous version of the 055 carbon fibre jobby do occasionally pop up for well under £150 (but are usually £170+ ish). With the cashback and the seller's discounted price, the new tripod is costing just over £150 (and if I sell my old tripod, around £100 ).

That’s quite interesting, Bob. I’ve fancied the 055 carbon fibre models for some time. Like you, I’ve been using the aluminium one for a while and it’s really good.

Alex: The c/f one is not massively lighter (2 kilos vs. 2.5 kilos) and as you say the aluminium 055 is an excellent tripod already so I needed a good excuse to splash out on a new carbon fibre version...

Sounds like a good idea Paul - all those absolutely essential items need documenting

I recently bought a new 055. The dealer thought the cashback could be claimed with a cheque. However, when I looked into applying the promotional company that run it on behalf of Manfrotto will only pay via BACS transfer, ie: you have to give them your bank details. Something I will not do. So I passed up £50 for my peace of mind.

I rently had an unfortunate 'accident' with my old 440 C/F Manfrotto so was delighted to have an excuse to buy a new 055 C/F one (legs only) and have made some good savings, including the £50 cash-back.

IMO the 055 C/F is currently a great C/F tripod for the money.

Neil.

Delta 400 @ 800 ISO in Microphen is a lighter and cheaper option.
